WWE News: AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn announced for Fastlane

Controversy continues to cloud the WWE Championship picture after SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan announced a triple threat match between Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and AJ Styles for the Fastlane main event.

The feud between "The Phenomenal One" and his SmackDown adversaries began when Bryan made Styles defend the WWE Championship against Owens & Zayn in a handicap match at the Royal Rumble.

The WWE Championship bout would kick off the show and would end in victory for Styles despite dispute regarding the former Bullet Club leader pinning the wrong man.

The issue would be resolved when a No. 1 Contender’s match was announced between Zayn and Owens for this week’s show.

The Zayn-Owens rivalry defined the mid card in 2016 and was revisited tonight when the former enemies attacked each other with stiff blows and big moves for a second chance at capturing a world title.

However, the match would end in disqualification after Styles responded to Zayn’s provocations and attacked both men, which lead to Bryan making the announcement for the Fastlane match.

The Nationwide Arena released a promotional video back in December that suggested the main event of Fastlane would include Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura competing for the WWE Championship. Orton doesn’t seem to be factoring into plans, but The King of Strong Style’s victory in the Men’s Royal Rumble match definitively takes him out as a potential addition to the match.

The Fastlane pay-per-view will take place two weeks after the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view on March 11 and will emanate from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
