Alexa Bliss talks about the Four Horsewomen getting the spotlight over her in NXT

What’s the story?

In a recent appearance on Oh, Jezuz! (Power 98.3), Alexa Bliss opened up on a myriad of topics.

Bliss primarily spoke about being accorded less importance in WWE NXT due to the Four Horsewomen. Besides, Bliss also revealed who her favorite wrestlers were growing up; and getting drafted to the main roster.

In case you didn’t know…

After performing largely as a valet/manager in NXT, Alexa Bliss was drafted to the main roster of SmackDown Live in 2016.

While the majority of professional wrestling fans and experts weren’t too high on Bliss making it as a top Superstar, “Five Feet of Fury” went on to achieve tremendous success on the main roster—winning both the SmackDown and RAW Women’s Championships respectively.

The heart of the matter

Alexa Bliss recalled being drafted to the main roster; pointing out that she wasn’t sure if she was ready for a main roster spot yet. Bliss added that at the time, she’d never held a title, wrestled a Takeover match or been accorded significant screen-time for her to get a general understanding of what she’s truly capable of—nevertheless, she planned on coming under the radar and kicking down the door.

Additionally, Bliss emphasized that while growing up, Rey Mysterio & Trish Stratus were her favorite wrestlers, since much like Mysterio, she was a gymnast too, and loved to see him flip around during his matches. Bliss added that Stratus is an obvious favorite, as there’s no one who doesn’t love her.

Furthermore, Bliss revealed how the Four Horsewomen hogged the spotlight during their time in NXT—

"All the focus at the time was on the Four Horsewomen—I was in there at the same time as the Four Horsewomen, but I wasn't given that spotlight—I wasn't the girl they chose to go with. Which is fine because if the Four Horsewomen were going to be the face of this 'Women's Evolution' that's amazing. I know I came in under the radar, I can be that person that evolves that evolution and that revolution and take it to the next step—be that different kind of person, that different face then being with the Four Horsewomen—I could kind of make my own path."

What’s next?

Alexa Bliss, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Mickie James compete in the first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber Match, which takes place at the Elimination Chamber PPV on February 25th.

Bliss puts her RAW Women’s Championship on the line in the aforementioned matchup—with the vast majority of experts believing the Bliss is likely to retain her title in the historic match.

Author’s take

Alexa Bliss is spot-on in her assessment that the Four Horsewomen (Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, & Sasha Banks) hogged the lion’s share of the attention/importance during their time in NXT.

Regardless, this is Bliss’ time now, and the Goddess of WWE seems primed to rule the Women’s Division over the next 5-10 years. All hail, Li’l Miss Bliss.
