WWE News: Alexa Bliss opens up about her WWE persona

Alexa Bliss is the current Raw Women's Champion

What’s the story?

The Detroit News recently caught up with Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss and questioned her regarding her WWE persona and how Marilyn Monroe relates to her on-air character.

In case you didn’t know…

Alexa Bliss was signed by the WWE back in 2013 as part of the company’s developmental territory, better known as NXT. After spending a few years on NXT, Bliss eventually got her main roster call-up in 2016, when she was drafted to the blue brand of SmackDown Live.

After being drafted to SD Live, Bliss became a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, however, in 2017, Bliss was drafted to Monday Night Raw, where she is the current and two-time Raw Women’s Champion.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with The Detroit News recently, Bliss revealed a few details on how she got comfortable with her on-air persona and more. Here are a few highlights from the interview:

On becoming comfortable with her on-air character:

Alexa Bliss claimed that during the initial stages of her WWE career, she was very shy and uncomfortable with portraying an evil character or showing any emotions for that fact. However, as time gradually progressed, Bliss claimed that she eventually got wrapped up in her character so much, that she did not even notice what she was doing and it was a rather natural feeling for her.

On relating to American actress Marilyn Monroe:

Bliss stated that Marilyn Monroe is the type of person who is very shy, quiet, and unsure of herself, but there’s apparently a scene in one of her movies where she turns to Eddie Redmayne’s character and switches to Marilyn mode with the blink of an eye.

What’s next?

Alexa Bliss is currently scheduled to defend her Raw Women’s Title at this year’s WrestleMania 34 event either against the Women’s Royal Rumble winner Asuka or presumably against someone else from the Raw roster.

Author’s Take

Alexa Bliss’ current character is truly one of the greatest heel acts on WWE TV, considering the fact that she was just a bland babyface back in NXT.
