What’s the story?
During the very recent WWE NXT house show in Sanford, Florida, American Ninja Warrior veteran and Professional Gymnast Kacy Catanzaro finally made her much-anticipated Pro Wrestling debut, when she competed for the very first time as part of WWE’s developmental brand, better known as NXT.
In case you didn’t know…
Kacy Catanzaro is considered as one the biggest stars in the history of NBC’s fitness competition series American Ninja Warrior. Prior to her debut for ANW, Catanzaro spent two years in training alongside her then-boyfriend and co-competitor Brent Steffensen.
In 2014, Catanzaro became the first woman to complete the qualifying course of American Ninja Warrior (Season 6), when she made it up the Warped Wall on her second try at 5:26.18 at the Dallas qualifiers, ranking her 21 out of 30. In doing so Catanzaro also became the first woman to make it up the Warped Wall in the entire competition.
Later in the same year, Catanzaro competed in the Dallas finals of American Ninja Warrior and became the first woman ever to complete a city finals course. In 2017, Catanzaro eventually announced her retirement from American Ninja Warrior with Season 9 being her very last.
The heart of the matter
Kacy Catanzaro initially received a tryout with the WWE at their Performance Center back in the 4th of January, 2017 and later that year, during the Mae Young Classic Tournament, WWE had officially announced the signing of Kacy Catanzaro.
Earlier this year, Catanzaro officially reported to the WWE Performance Center and all her hard work finally paid-off as on the 19th of April, 2018, Catanzaro competed in a WWE ring for the very first time as part of the NXT roster.
In her very singles first match in Pro Wrestling, Catanzaro lost to Reina Gonzalez and despite a valiant effort, the 28-year-old New Jersey native did manage to put up a very astonishing impression in her first match in the Pro Wrestling industry.
What’s next?
Now that Kacy Catanzaro has finally made her NXT debut, expect her to play a huge role as part of the active NXT roster and it’ll just be a matter of time before we get to witness ‘Mighty Kacy’ on our television screens.
