WWE News: Another WrestleMania weekend appearance added for Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold Steve Austin will be appearing at WrestleCon

What's the story?

It's always a rare opportunity when Stone Cold Steve Austin is confirmed for a meet and greet event, so it's no surprise that his WrestleMania weekend at WrestleCon sold out within less than 24 hours.

Well, it's now been confirmed that Stone Cold will now be making not one but TWO appearances over WrestleMania weekend.

In case you didn't know...

Austin has been lying low in terms of the business since his retirement and, while he still deals with wrestling personalities on his weekly podcast, an appearance at RAW 25 where he delivered two Stone Cold Stunners to Shane McMahon and one to Vince McMahon was a huge rarity - and maybe why The Texas Rattlesnakes' appearances are so special.

The heart of the matter

Well, WrestleCon looks bigger than ever with Austin's announcement yesterday adding to an already impressive bill featuring appearances from Goldberg and Kenny Omega.

Unsurprisingly, the first date sold out very quickly, and a second has now been added due to phenomenal demand.

All autograph packages for the Sunday sold out immediately, with a 3:16 Package that included an exclusive window before the convention began to meet Austin, three autographs, and a professional photo opportunity for $316.00.

For the Saturday, only pro photo opportunities with Wolfe Studios and a two-pack autograph ticket are being offered in advance.

Mike Johnson of PW Insider also noted that Wrestlecon have announced they only have 100 tickets left for the 4/6 Wrestlecon Supershow event.

What's next?

Well, there's no hint as to whether Austin will show up at WrestleMania this year as a guest, having previously rocked up with Hulk Hogan and The Rock for a special segment at WrestleMania XXX, then with Shawn Michaels and Mick Foley at WrestleMania 32 in a segment with the League of Nations and The New Day.

Author's take

Given that Austin is often thought of as one of the biggest wrestling superstars on the planet, it's no surprise the popularity he commands when he does pop up for these special events.

Both his legendary status within the industry and the fact that he's selective with his appearances means that almost any price could be attached to these events and they would still sell out, and I won't be surprised if the second date goes just as quickly as the first.
