What's the story?

Authors of Pain have been pushed to the main event level of the Tag Team Division ever since they were promoted to the main roster from NXT, but they are now expected to be out of action for the foreseeable future.

In case you didn't know...

Authors of Pain are former Tag Team Champions on NXT and Monday Night Raw. They only recently lost their tag titles to Chad Gable and Bobby Roode, in a match where their manager Drake Maverick was actually pinned for the titles to change hands.

AOP dropped their manager Paul Ellering after their promotion and have since been successful without him in their corner, but this would be the first injury that the duo has suffered since their promotion to Monday Night Raw.

The heart of the matter

According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Akam recently suffered a leg injury which will keep him out of action throughout WrestleMania season and could also cost him a Tag Team Championship match at the biggest show of the year.

Much like The Bludgeon Brothers, it's unlikely that Rezar will be used on WWE TV without his teammate, so he could be put in the same position as Tyler Breeze and Luke Harper over the past few months.

What's next?

The Tag Team Championship picture will be very different by the time AOP make their return to Monday Night Raw. However, if Akam needs to undergo surgery for his leg injury, then he could be out for a number of months and WWE hasn't been able to build a character for Rezar that he could use alone.
