What's the story?

The Hype Bros may split up soon and join the many tag teams who saw their end in 2017. After their match on Smackdown, Zack Ryder refused to shake the hand of the victors, Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable, and walked away leaving Mojo Rawley in the ring with them.

Rawley also gave a backstage interview about their bad luck and inability to win any matches as a team.

In case you didn't know....

The Hype Bros were seemingly in line for a push near the end of 2016 when they won a number one contender's Battle Royale for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles. The happy occasion was marred by Zack Ryder suffering an injury that would put him out of action for a long time.

This meant that, despite becoming the number one contenders, they were not able to do anything about it.

Ryder returned to television in June, and they reformed the Hype Bros, though truthfully, they achieved little to nothing since the return. They won the Money in the Bank Preshow match against the Colons but lost almost every other match that came their way.

The heart of the matter

The Hype Bros suffered a loss on Smackdown Live in a match against Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable. After the match, Ryder left the ring, ignoring the offered handshake by Gable and Benjamin.

Rawley was left standing awkwardly looking between his partner and the opponents.

When Rawley was interviewed backstage, he expressed his frustration too and talked about losing the opportunity for the Championship match, as well as not winning matches since their reformation.

What's next?

Rawley took the loss in a better way than his partner, as Ryder simply walked away from it all without making a statement. Mojo, on the other hand, is determined to make improvements. The next Smackdown will hopefully reveal more about where this is going.

Author's Take

Zack Ryder is the recipient of one of the more roller-coaster pushes of WWE for a long time, seemingly achieving something only to lose it all very soon. The Hype Bros were amazing as a team and never got the push they deserved from WWE.

There is a huge chance that this may be teasing a heel turn, with Ryder's attitude being what it is. Either a singles heel turn for Zack Ryder will mean that he turns against his partner or a heel turn for the Hype Bros as a whole.
