WWE News: Asuka reacts to winning the SmackDown Live Women's title at TLC

What's the story?

The wrestling world is buzzing right now, as WWE TLC has now come to a close. We saw the first ever Women's TLC match take place, as Asuka captured the SmackDown Live Women's Championship by defeating champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, with a little help from RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey.

Nevertheless, the win was an emotional victory and a much-needed win for "The Empress" of the WWE.

In case you didn't know...

Asuka has been on a downward spiral since losing to Charlotte Flair back at WrestleMania 34, ending her unprecedented winning streak of 914 days. Since that time, her character has remained in neutral standing, with a few victories in between and a developing friendship with fellow SmackDown Live Superstar Naomi.

Now, Asuka has climbed back to the top of the mountain and reclaimed her throne, defeated the odds and becoming the newly crowned SmackDown Women's Champion much to the expense and dismay of Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.

The latter who were the odds-on favorite to win tonight's contest, with Asuka being booked as the clear underdog favorite.

The heart of the matter

Asuka is interviewed backstage following the events of WWE TLC. She is asked how she feels about winning the SmackDown Women's Championship in the first ever Women's TLC Match. Asuka replies:

"Becky says she's "The Man". Charlotte says she's "The Man". Now I'm "THE MAN!". No one is ready for ASUKA!!!"

What's next?

With Asuka as the new reigning and defending SmackDown Live Women's Championship, the question remains as to who will step up to challenge Asuka next? Will it be Becky Lynch? Charlotte Flair? Perhaps another WWE Superstar from the Women's Division?
