What's the Story?

WWE Superstar Dave Batista called out Triple H after he attacked Ric Flair at the end of Monday Night Raw.

This attack comes months after Triple H and Batista showed hostility towards each other and rumors of the two having a match emerged.

In case you didn't know

The final segment of Raw was Flair’s 70th Birthday Celebration hosted by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Triple H invited several colleagues and former opponents of "The Nature Boy" before inviting him to the ring. After Flair didn’t show up, a backstage camera revealed that Batista had returned and assaulted his former mentor.

The heart of the matter

Many fans were expecting Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch to appear in the segment to build towards their WrestleMania match, but this segment focused on the soon-to-be-confirmed bout between "The Cerebral Assassin" and "The Animal."

Tension between Triple H and Batista was teased back at SmackDown 1000 when Ric and Randy Orton reunited the legendary group and reflected on their careers.

Batista would end his speech by saying that Triple H has done everything except defeat the former World Champion before the segment ended.

The storyline comes years after Batista openly stated his desire to face Triple H at WrestleMania again, put him over and retire from professional wrestling.

Triple H and Batista's rivalry in 2005 established "The Animal" as a main event superstar when he defeated the former World Heavyweight Champion in three back-to-back matches, starting at WrestleMania 21.

What's Next?

Batista left the backstage area before Triple H had the opportunity to confront him, so expect the former teammates to cross paths as the Road to WrestleMania progresses.

The last time "The Animal" talked about wrestling Triple H was in a retirement match, so this could be his final performance on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
