What's the story?

The Animal, Batista, returned to the WWE this past week on RAW, and made a huge impact as he took out WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, who was to celebrate his 70th birthday in front of the WWE Universe.

Batista now reveals why he quit WWE to pursue a full-time role as an actor in Hollywood, a decision that was made easy by an action by Vince McMahon. Back in 2008, Batista and Chris Jericho were embroiled in a feud, and in a match on RAW, Batista bladed himself which angered Vince McMahon, who fined The Animal $100,000.

In case you didn't know...

Batista and Jericho spoke about the incident on Jericho's Talk is Jericho podcast.

"I knew we weren't supposed to do it…I knew I would get consequences but I thought I would get the consequences and I didn't think they'd be as harsh as they were. Then he starts passing out fines. So my fine was $100,000…My heart dropped. I thought it would be like $25,000…When he said $100,000, I was just heartbroken. I literally think that he sucked the life out of me that day. I think that's the day that I knew things were never going to be the same," said Batista.

The heart of the matter

While speaking to Tampa Bay Times, Batista said that that incident with Vince McMahon made him think about becoming a movie star. The Animal said that bleeding for the fans "means something”, and the night he was fined $100,000 by McMahon was when he knew that he no longer wanted to be a wrestler.

He also said that wrestling for him was about "performance more than personality" and that he disliked being a babyface, and loved being a heel.
