What’s the story?
Bayley has got the WWE Universe abuzz by sending out a challenge to Trish Stratus and Lita for a match at WrestleMania.
In case you didn’t know…
Sasha Banks and Bayley became the first ever WWE women's tag-team champions at the Elimination Chamber on Sunday. They started off the match inside the chamber and overcame 5 other tag teams to win the gold.
However, technically, they aren't the first women's tag team champions. Back in 1983, when the company was World Wrestling Federation, aka WWE, there was a similar title for the women's division. It was not a big deal back then and after 5 title reigns, it was abandoned in 1989.
The heart of the matter
Bayley and Sasha Banks pinned Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose at the end to win the gold and it was expected that they will be the ones to challenge for the title. However, looking at Bayley's recent tweet, she has sent out a challenge to Lita and Trish Stratus.
Sasha Banks had also hinted on it when she said that they were ready to put the title up for grabs against anybody – past, present or future. The Boss even went on to say that they were ready to go against anybody on Raw, SmackDown Live or even NXT.
"We have put our heart and soul in to create this tag team women's division, and we plan on defending these titles against anybody, whether it's past, present, future, here on Raw, SmackDown and even NXT," Banks said.
What’s next?
Lita & Trish vs Bayley & Banks was in the Rumour Mill recently and looking at things now, it looks like WWE are actually going ahead with it. While it looks like a 'fantasy booking', it would not really add anything to the storyline and WWE will have to start afresh after WrestleMania again.
