What’s the story?
According to news that broke out on the WWE website, New Day member Big E has been ordained to be a minister and officiate weddings. According to the hip-swiveling sports entertainer, he applied for a certificate online and received an official certificate subsequently. Big E even claimed on Twitter that he would be officiating weddings in Los Angeles. He added that for once, he was not joking.
In case you didn't know...
Big E was one of the official hosts of Wrestlemania as part of The New Day. After two losses to The Revival following Wrestlemania, the impressive trio was drafted to SmackDown. In addition to his professional wrestling responsibilities, it looks like Big E has picked up a brand new hobby too. Much in the vein of his friend Xavier Woods who runs his own gaming channel on Youtube- Upupdowndown.
The heart of the matter
Big E's tweet first alerted us to his newest achievement
He was interviewed by the WWE website and spoke about how he first got the idea to become a minister:
I actually have to give all credit to Enzo Amore. He came up with this idea. As soon as I heard it, I thought "This is kind of ridiculous, but kind of phenomenal, as well." So, I gave it some thought, ran it by a couple of my friends, got their feedback. I couldn't really think of a reason not to do it and got even more excited about the prospect.
The former WWE Tag Team Champion also spoke about how a Big E wedding would be different from a regular one:
I'm imagining people kind of want to see me as a character and do some of the things that I do on TV. I'm not going to approach it as a normal minister would. My job is an entertainer, so my thought is people want to see me entertain.
That's something we can talk about, of course. If you have a grandmother at your wedding who is uncomfortable with me shaking my hips, that's something that I can tone down. It's a case-by-case basis.
What’s next?
It’ll be great to see the inevitable youtube footage that emerges of these ‘Big E Weddings’. It’ll also be interesting to see how The New Day transforms the tag team division on SmackDown Live.
