What’s the story?

Veteran Pro Wrestler and D-Generation X member Billy Gunn recently spoke about with WWE Hall of Famer 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin in a recent interview on 317 Gimmick Street.

During his interview, Billy talked about what it was like travelling with Austin back in the day and getting legitimately attacked by “The Texas Rattlesnake”.

In case you didn’t know…

During his tenure with the WWE, Gunn was one of the top members of the legendary DX faction and was also one half of the New Age Outlaws tag team along with Road Dogg. He also won the WWE/WWF Tag Team Titles on 11 different occasions and the 54-year-old has also held the WWE Hardcore and Intercontinental Championships in the past as well.

However, in 2004, Gunn was released from his WWE contract due to his critical and negative comments towards the company and the COO of WWE Triple H.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with Austin, Billy Gunn hilariously stated that the former was the type of person who caused a lot of troubles while the two men were travelling with each other on the road back in the day.

“Having to get you water and snuff, that thing, and if I'd touch your water, you'd lose your mind! That's one thing about you I can remember, is that when we had our water in the car if I even moved it or touched it, [imitating Austin], 'you didn't put your lips on this, did you?'”- Billy Gunn stated in a hilarious manner.

Additionally, Austin also joined in on the fun, when he said that the one thing he enjoyed the most about travelling with Billy Gunn is, that he was a good wheelman and an excellent and safe driver.

What’s next?

At the age of 54, Gunn is still going strong inside the squared circle and the former WWE IC Champion is currently under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling, which also speaks a lot for itself.

He made his NJPW debut back in 2016, has taken part in the NJPW: World Tag League 2016, the Wrestle Kingdom 11 show at the Tokyo Dome, and also the G1 Climax Specials in the US last year.

Author’s Take

Gunn is truly one of the most dedicated wrestlers in the Pro Wrestling world today and at the age of 54, the former WWE Hardcore Champion is still going strong and is proving all his critics wrong by competing in marquee matches against the likes of Hiroshi Tanahashi and other top NJPW stars.
