WWE News: Gurv and Harv Sihra get new in-ring names

Will the Singh Brothers get over under their new name?

What’s the Story?

Gurv Sihra and Harv Sihra of the Bollywood Boyz will no longer be wrestling under the names “Sihra” nor the team name “Bollywood Boyz.” Going forward, Gurv and Harv will be going by their last name of “Singh” and will be known as Sunil Singh and Samir Singh respectively. Check out the screenshot of the change as mentioned on the WWE website:

In case you didn’t know....

Gurv and Harv signed with the WWE in 2016 and participated in the critically acclaimed Cruiserweight Classic. Once the Cruiserweight Classic concluded, Gurv and Harv along with other Cruiserweights were signed to the main roster and the 205 Live for the revival of the Cruiserweight Division.

Gurv and Harv reemerged as the henchmen for Jinder Mahal last week on SmackDown when they interfered in the match and helped Mahal become the #1 contender for Randy Orton’s WWE Championship. They also aided Mahal in beating down Orton and stealing his title last night on SmackDown.

The heart of the matter

Gurv and Harv changing their individual names to Sunil and Samir and their tag team name from “The Bollywood Boyz” to “The Singh Brothers” is an obvious indication that the company is attempting to re-brand them as heels under the employ of Mahal.

The Singh Brothers have yet to wrestle on SmackDown Live as a team and that could be how WWE introduces them to the main roster fans before Mahal and Orton have their championship match at Backlash.

What’s next?

Tune into SmackDown Live next week to see what happens next as the buildup to Orton vs. Mahal continues. With their new allegiance to Mahal, expect The Singh brothers to wrestle Orton anytime in the next few weeks as they head into Backlash. We could also be in for a six-man tag team match with the brothers and Mahal teaming up to take on Orton along with two mystery partners.

Author’s take

The Singh Brothers were going nowhere as the Bollywood Boyz, thus the change of pace and allegiance with Mahal could help all three men in question. The Singh Brothers are playing a similar role to that of Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble of J&J Security when they aided Seth Rollins in a lot of his matches.

Their constant involvement helped Rollins to get over as a heel and many fans enjoyed the dynamic between the three wrestlers. Hopefully, The Singh Brothers and Mahal stick with each other after Backlash as there is a lot of potential in the trio as top heels going forward.
