What’s the story?

The WWE has sent out a statement, announcing that it has signed Egyptian boxer, kickboxer, and MMA fighter Mohamed Fahim.

Fahim’s accomplishments in combat ports were noted in the statement sent out by the WWE. Besides, a few other signees who’ve been scouted from the WWE’s 2017 tryouts in Dubai were also announced.

In case you didn’t know…

The WWE held tryouts—scouting new talent for the promotion, particularly from Asia, last year.

In lieu of the WWE’s global expansion plans, the organization is bringing in several performers from all around the world, so as to increase diversity and ensure representation for different nationalities in the world of sports-entertainment.

The heart of the matter

The WWE announced its signing of 28-year-old boxing champion Mohamed Fahim, who hails from Cairo, Egypt. The prizefighter reported to the WWE Performance Center this week and shall commence his in-ring training very soon.

WWE noted Fahim’s impressive repertoire and physical attributes, emphasizing that he stands at 6’1” and weighs in at 220 pounds. He’s been competing as a boxer since 2007 and has won championships at the university level as well as gold medals in national events.

Furthermore, it was also noted that Fahim earned first place in a national kickboxing competition in 2014, and besides being an accomplished kickboxer, he also boasts a 1-0 MMA record. Below are a few excerpts from WWE’s statements sent out in the announcement—

“Fahim impressed WWE talent scouts during a tryout last year in Dubai. The four-day camp, which included 34 prospects from 18 countries, has yielded several other recent additions to WWE's developmental system, including Shadia Bseiso of Jordan, the female Arab to sign with WWE; Nasser Alruwayeh, the first Kuwaiti man to join WWE; Indian TV star Saurav Gurjar; Rinku Singh, a former pro baseball player from India and subject of the Netflix movie "Million Dollar Arm"; and Mae Young Classic alumna Kavita Devi, the first Indian woman to sign with WWE.”

What’s next?

Fans can expect Mohamed Fahim to spend the better part of 2018 at the WWE Performance Center, honing his professional wrestling skills.

It’s awesome to see the WWE recruit talents from the Middle-East and other such parts of the world that don’t really provide performers the requisite platform to display their pro-wrestling skills.

With the influx of several crossover sportspersons, into the WWE, fans can expect the athleticism and competition in the WWE to ascend to even greater levels in the days to come.
