WWE News: Brand new NXT recruit almost fired over insensitive Tweet?
What's the story?
Recently, WWE parted ways with three of its superstars, including Emma. While the world reacted with shock when Emma lost her job, NXT's newest signee, Lio Rush, said the following:
I guess these are the things that happen when you're not TRULY ready for @WWEAsuka
Of course, most of the wrestling community reacted with shock and outrage at this remark. We understand that Rush came close to losing his job for good, as per reports from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer.
In case you didn't know...
Lio Rush is an independent wrestling sensation, who's accomplished a lot on the independent circuit at the age of 22. He has made a few NXT appearances already, most notably in a match against The Velveteen Dream.
Even though he's universally considered to be one of NXT's brightest prospects, his run almost came to an end before it even really began.
The heart of the matter
This is what Meltzer said in The Wrestling Observer with regard to the current status of Lio Rush:
This guy is going to have to work to get heat off of him. Had he not apologized quickly, I don't think he'd still be with the company based on what we were hearing between the post and the apology.
PWInsider additionally reported that NXT Management also had a word with Rush about his controversial remarks, shortly following the Twitter debacle.
We're certain that they were stern with regard to what had happened, and did not go easy on the man.
If Rush works at getting the heat off him, he could really be the next big thing in sports entertainment. As it is, he's already quite a sensation at a very young age. Let's hope that this incident is soon forgotten.
A young man made a mistake, and he soon apologized. I think he deserves a second chance. It'll be criminal to see such great talent to go waste.
