WWE News: Braun Strowman on what Roman Reigns cares about more than fan approval

What's the story?

Braun Strowman, in an interview with Metro.co.uk spoke about Roman Reigns and their on-screen rivalry. He also revealed the one thing that motivates Reigns more than getting WWE fans to like him.

In case you didn't know...

Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns feuded for a good part of 2017. They faced each other on multiple occasions, most notably at Fastlane(Strowman's first loss in WWE), Payback and Great Balls Of Fire. While Strowman did come out on top on most occasions, the two have been praised for their chemistry, in the ring and on the mic.

Strowman is undoubtedly one of WWE's biggest success stories of the past year. From being viewed as "Just another big guy who Vince loves", Strowman's rapid improvement and strong booking has led him to becoming a fan-favourite in all of WWE and not just RAW. His organic rise to the top saw the fans turn him babyface.

The heart of the matter

About Reigns, Strowman said that his on-screen rival cares more about making WWE better than fan perception of him:

I fully trust Roman, he’s never once steered me astray or suggested anything stupid for me to do that would make himself look better. He’s a team player, he’s here to make the product better. A lot of guys get caught up in what everyone thinks about them instead of what everyone thinks about the match.

Roman has been a big help in steering me the right way, and when I do something that isn’t good, he’s right there to let me know that I did something that sucks.

Strowman has stated in previous interviews that he believes Roman Reigns is one of the finest in-ring performers in the world. He's always praised Reigns consistently in interviews.

What's next?

Strowman seems to be heading into another Universal title shot against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, this time with Kane being a factor to play as well.

Author's take

Without a doubt, if there's any superstar who can be pinned responsible for Strowman's organic rise, it's Roman Reigns. Roman put on consistently great matches and made Strowman look like a legitimate threat. Big Show is another superstar who could definitely be credited with helping Strowman.

Regardless, Strowman knows Reigns well and it's nice to hear something about Roman Reigns other than his polarising reactions.
