What's the story?
During a recent interview with Metro; Monday Night Raw superstar Braun Strowman discussed a host of wrestling topics, including his off-screen relationship with Shield member and current WWE Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns.
In case you didn't know...
Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns have been in a major rivalry since the beginning of 2017 when Strowman interfered in a match between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship and cost Reigns the championship after putting him through a table. The two men collided in a match at the Fastlane pay-per-view, where Reigns would get his revenge by scoring a pinfall victory over Strowman.
On March 20th, 2017, Strowman and Reigns faced off in a rematch from Fastlane on an episode of Monday Night Raw, however, the match would end in a no-contest following an interference from The Undertaker. The two men continued their rivalry throughout the next few months and on an edition of Raw, The Monster Among Men decided to brutally attack Reigns several times which led to another match between the two men this time at the Payback pay-per-view. At Payback, Strowman was finally able to defeat Reigns and avenge his Fastlane loss.
At this year's Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view, Strowman and Reigns faced off in their fourth match of the year, this time with an added stipulation. An ambulance match between the two men was set to settle the score. Strowman managed to defeat Reigns in their ambulance match and got a 2-1 head-to-head lead against The Big Dog.
The heart of the matter
During his interview with Metro, Braun Strowman revealed that he sees a lot of similarity regarding many aspects between him and Roman Reigns, including their work ethic and outlook on life and also claimed that this is the sole reason why he has such amazing chemistry with "The Big Dog".
Additionally, the 34-year-old stated that he fully trusts Roman Reigns and said that the current IC Champion has also come up with some great ideas regarding their intense feud which began earlier this year. Strowman then added that Roman Reigns is a team player, who is in the WWE to make the product better and according to the former Wyatt Family member. Roman Reigns has been helping him a lot and has been steering Strowman towards the right way, in the WWE.
"When I do something that isn’t good, he’s right there to let me know that I did something that sucks. That’s the cool thing about the locker room right now, everyone is trying to make the product better.”
What's next?
As for Braun Strowman, it seems like the next phase in his WWE career will be to go after the Universal Title and Brock Lesnar once again. Following this week's episode of Monday Night Raw; Strowman stated in an interview that nobody is going to get in his path of destruction as he plans on becoming the new WWE Universal Champion.
