WWE hosted a Beat the Clock challenge on SmackDown to determine the number one contenders to the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships. The team of Tyler Breeze and Fandango ended up winning the competition to emerge as the new number one contenders to the tag titles.
In case you didn’t know...
The SmackDown tag team division was boosted after the Superstar Shakeup. The addition of the New Day and the Colons added some legitimacy to the tag team division.
The Smackdown Tag Team Championships were the only titles that were not defended at Wrestlemania, and current champions, The Usos competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
The heart of the matter
American Alpha made short work of the Colons, beating them in 5 minutes and 17 seconds. Breezango took to the ring against the Ascension with the 5:17 mark in mind. The Ascension looked dominant in the first few minutes using their size advantage to wear out Tyler Breeze and Fandango.
In what can only be termed as a fortunate turn of events for Breezango, Fandango connected with the Falcon’s Arrow on Victor. This allowed them to pick up the win over the Ascension with a comfortable 2 minutes and 36 seconds to spare on the clock.
What’s next?
This victory makes the team with the ‘Fashion Police’ gimmick, the number one contenders for the tag team titles. Breezango will face the Usos at the upcoming Smackdown LIVE exclusive PPV Backlash on May 21 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.

Breezango have always be slated as the team with great potential who have struggled on the main roster. This win may be an opportunity for Tyler Breeze and Fandango to prove their mettle. With the New Day on their way to the blue brand, there won’t be too many opportunities for Breezango to be in the title picture.
The Usos have now become veterans of the tag team landscape and Breezango will have their task cut out when they attempt to dethrone them.
