Brock Lesnar is set to defend his Universal title this March

What’s the story?

Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Universal Championship against Kane at an upcoming WWE house show.

WWE has revealed the date and opponent for the event, in addition to the fact that John Cena will also compete at the event.

In case you didn’t know…

Brock Lesnar is the reigning WWE Universal Champion. However, given that the Beast Incarnate works a part-time schedule in the WWE, the number of matches he competes in at live events as well as on television or PPVs is low, so to speak.

Nevertheless, whenever Lesnar does compete inside a WWE ring, the event is highly anticipated by the WWE Universe, especially considering the big-fight feel and athletic clinics put on by the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.

The heart of the matter

The United Center in Chicago, Illinois have sent out a Tweet; asserting that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will put his title on the line against ‘The Big Red Machine’ Kane at WWE’s RAW-branded live event which takes place on 3 March.

Furthermore, ‘free agent’ John Cena has also been scheduled to perform at the event. Additionally, Roman Reigns—one of the RAW brand’s top Superstars today—has also been confirmed in the vignette.

Besides, the event marks 20 years since the WWE held a show at the United Center. The reason behind WWE not putting on the show at its usual venue—the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, is that the venue has been booked for a Monster Jam event for the entire week. What’s next?

The WWE’s aforementioned RAW house show transpires at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on 3 March. Fans can avail tickets by directly visiting United Center's official website.

Author’s take

Brock Lesnar defending the Universal title against Kane is a tad surprising to say the least. Most experts believed that Kane was written off RAW’s storylines after being sent to the hospital by Braun Strowman. Perhaps the Devil’s Favorite Demon might still end up working a few house shows, while staying off WWE TV programming, especially considering that Glenn Jacobs and his ‘brother’ are busy with the former’s Mayoral campaign in March.
