WWE News: Brock Lesnar's SummerSlam opponent to be announced on this week's SmackDown
Looks like his UFC experiment is one and done
The Independence Day episode of Raw is in the books, and played host to a myriad talking points ranging from a potential New Day split to Enzo and Cass teaming up with John Cena to take on the Club.
There was even a brief segment involving the returning Vickie Guerrero.
But unmistakably, what stole the show was the announcement that Brock Lesnar’s SummerSlam opponent would be announced on the Smackdown episode this week.
With UFC 200 scheduled for this weekend as well, Lesnar’s stock has never been higher, and the WWE chose wisely to capitalise on that on an episode of Raw that was expected to yield record low ratings for them.
Now, the question that is on everybody’s mind is who will his opponent be, with almost all the major stars in the promotion already embroiled in a feud as of now.
This could mean that Lesnar’s opponent would be a call-up from NXT, although that greatly restricts the playing field as the Superstar should then be legitimately over enough to get plugged into the main event level immediately.
Else, the winner of the Shield Triple Threat at Battleground could be an option, but it remains to be seen if the company would be prepared to include Lesnar into the WWE Title mix.
