What’s the story?

Maria Menounos is reportedly set to serve as the ring announcer for the Women’s Royal Rumble Match this weekend.

Menounos revealed the fact a few hours ago as she filled in for Kelly Ripa on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’.

In case you didn’t know…

Maria Menounos is a longtime professional wrestling fan who has been associated with the WWE for several years now.

Menounos previously competed in a multi-woman Tag Team Match at Wrestlemania 28—one in which she emerged victoriously.

The heart of the matter

Maria Menounos has been working with the WWE as a brand ambassador since 2013, apart from also juggling several Hollywood projects.

While Menounos substituted Kelly Ripa on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’, she interviewed Golden Globes award winner Rachel Brosnahan and revealed that she’d be serving as the guest ring announcer for the Women’s Royal Rumble Match this weekend.

Furthermore, Menounos jested with Brosnahan—“Maybe we can throw you in (the Royal Rumble) last minute.”

What’s next?

The historic first-ever All-Women’s Royal Rumble Match takes place at the WWE’s Royal Rumble PPV which airs from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 28th.

The event has been receiving considerable coverage in the mainstream media as well—with several outlets lauding the WWE for their commendable work in Women’s Pro-Wrestling.

Author’s take

Maria Menounos is one of the nicest people one could ever meet, and if you happen to have made her acquaintance, you’d most definitely agree.

Menounos is the perfect choice to act as the ring announcer for this historic matchup, especially considering her excellent presentation skills, vibrant voice and familiarity with all things WWE.

Here’s hoping the Women’s Royal Rumble Match is a success, and we get to see tons of action with (hopefully) a few iconic female talents returning for the special event.
