WWE News: Cesaro and Sheamus didn't want to team together as The BAR and didn't know they were becoming a tag-team

What's the story?

Cesaro and Sheamus as The BAR are the current tag-team champions on Monday Night RAW and appear to be having the time of their lives as a tag-team together. However, in a recent interview with Al Arabiya, Cesaro revealed that he had no idea the forming of The BAR was happening and wasn't too keen on the idea either.

In case you didn't know...

Sheamus and Cesaro were once bitter rivals, competing in a best of seven series on Monday Night RAW until they were thrown together by then RAW General Manager Mick Foley to be a tag-team. Since then the pair has gone on to dominate the tag-team division becoming three-time RAW tag-team champions.

The heart of the matter

Following all of the success they've had, you'd be forgiven for thinking this was all part of the plan, but Cesaro revealed that he had no idea this was where his storyline feud with Sheamus was heading.

“The moment I found out I was teaming with Sheamus was the moment the fans did. It was when Mick Foley announced it on [Monday Night] Raw. I didn’t know much before that, and actually anything you saw on TV since then, and even before that with the best of seven series, was essentially art imitating life."

Cesaro then goes on to say that at the time Mick Foley surprised them both by announcing they'd be a tag-team live on RAW, neither himself, nor Sheamus were particularly fond of the idea, but luckily things turned out for the best

I wasn’t looking to be in another tag team, and I know neither was Sheamus. Now we’re having the time of our lives.”

What's next?

The pair is set to defend their tag-team titles against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose on the next Monday Night RAW, after the former champions invoked their rematch clause. The two tag-teams have had a back and forth rivalry for many months now, and this match seems to be the blow-off match for the feud.

Author's take

The BAR have been consistently good since they formed which makes the fact that neither of them was informed that they were going to be a team, or wanted to be in a tag-team even more incredible. The two men deserve credit for taking the ball and running with it.
