What's the story?
WWE recently announced a Mixed Match Challenge tournament which is set to take place every Tuesday following SmackDown Live from January 16th. The announcement was made by both Facebook and WWE, as the in-ring series is set to be aired live on Facebook Watch.
WWE Stars, Charlotte Flair and Bobby Roode recently exchanged banter on Twitter, which may be teasing a team-up between the two for the Mixed Match Challenge tournament.
In case you didn't know...
The Mixed Match Challenge is a tournament held between Raw and SmackDown Live, where male and female stars will team up to take on their counterparts from the opposing brand.
The tournament is set to be a 12 episode series which will feature single elimination mixed gender tag team matches held between the stars of Raw and SmackDown Live. The episodes will be aired live in the US exclusively on Facebook Watch.
The winners of the tournament are to be awarded $100K to support the charity of their choice. WWE has also claimed that the 20-minute episodes will allow members of the audience to interact with the WWE stars during the show.
The heart of the matter
With the announcement of the Mixed Match Challenge, WWE stars have looked to find their prospective partners for the coming tournament.
SmackDown's Women's Champion, Charlotte Flair and Bobby Roode recently exchanged banter on Twitter following the announcement, teasing at a possible team-up of the Glorious One and the Queen.
While none of this is confirmed yet, a team-up between the two seems a likely possibility. Charlotte needs to move quickly if she wants the Glorious One as her partner though, as Carmella is also looking to make a move.

The Mixed Match Challenge is set to air from the 16th of January after SmackDown Live, with 205 Live possibly moving to a new slot.

WWE has looked to reintroduce mixed gender tag matches back on television recently, with Cena and Nikki taking on Miz and Maryse at last year's Wrestlemania. The partnership with Facebook only goes to prove how serious WWE is on increasing their horizons on social media, instead of making it a WWE Network Special.
