WWE News: Charlotte Flair comments on not being part of Women's Royal Rumble

The two Champions on both brands won't be part of the historic Royal Rumble match

What's the story?

Some may call WWE SmackDown Live Superstar Charlotte Flair the face of the Women's Evolution. It is ironic then, that a pioneer like her won't be a part of the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match.

This is because the winner of the Royal Rumble match goes on to face the reigning Champion at WrestleMania. We bring you an excerpt from Flair's interview with Planeta Wrestling through this quote published on Wrestling Inc.

In case you didn't know...

Charlotte Flair is the first woman in WWE history to have held the RAW, SmackDown Live and NXT Women's Championships (also the retired Divas Championship).

She also made history by being part of the first ever Women's Hell in a Cell match with Sasha Banks in the year 2016.

Unfortunately, along with RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, she will have to sit out and watch from the sidelines, as the Women of WWE make history again.

The heart of the matter

Charlotte Flair admits that she is torn at not being able to compete in this match:

My competitive nature wants to be a part of this first-ever Royal Rumble match, this historic moment. But I do know that I am a part of the evolution that got us to where we are today in making the first ever Royal Rumble match possible.

However, Flair does admit that because she gets to face the winner of the Royal Rumble match, she's not really all that disappointed.

But secondly, I am honored knowing that I'm still a part of this excitement in the field of the rumble match, knowing that who wins the Royal Rumble match will be facing me and going head to head at WrestleMania 34.

As long as James Ellsworth does not show up and win the Rumble, we're quite okay with that.

What's next?

Charlotte Flair currently has The Riott Squad in her crosshairs. She also has Carmella with a 'Money in the Bank' briefcase, on her trail. It is certainly not easy being the reigning and defending SmackDown Live Women's Champion.

Author's take

Charlotte Flair has been a part of several historic matches. It's time for her to sit back and watch another woman create history, and go on to face her at WrestleMania 34.

Maybe it'll be Trish Stratus vs. Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34, and nobody will really mind that!
