What’s the story?

In an interview with a New York street reporter (*courtesy—Adam’s Apple*) Conor McGregor weighed in with his comments on Ronda Rousey’s WWE debut.

McGregor asserted his happiness at Rousey signing with the WWE, besides also heaping considerable praise on the Rowdy one.

In case you didn’t know…

Former UFC Featherweight titlist and reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor previously issued several comments against WWE performers such as John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and Sheamus.

While McGregor did reiterate his respect for certain WWE personalities whom he refers to as ‘Dons of the Game’ such as The Rock, Vince McMahon and Triple H, he has been considerably vocal against the vast majority of the WWE roster.

The heart of the matter

‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey’s WWE debut has been the focal point of the sports and entertainment industries over the past few days, as the Women’s MMA pioneer surprised one and all by signing a full-time deal with the WWE.

Conor McGregor stated the following on Rousey’s WWE debut—

"I'm delighted for her, absolutely over the moon for her! She looked like she really enjoyed herself at the event and I was very, very happy to see her…She's a pioneer for the game…She's come through it all and faced big wins and big, big losses and she came through it and it's great to see her represent herself and mixed martial arts and have fun in the WWE, (and) I know she's been a big fan of it all through her life, so it's great to see that."

Furthermore, McGregor also emphasized that he’s looking to return to the Octagon this year, against an opponent yet to be determined.

What’s next?

Ronda Rousey is set to be involved in a prominent match at Wrestlemania 34 and isn’t likely to return to the sport of MMA anytime soon.

On the other hand, Conor McGregor is likely to face either of the following four fighters, including Interim UFC Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson, boxing great Floyd Mayweather (who’s been teasing an MMA fight over the past few days), old rival Nate Diaz or the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Author’s take

It’s great to see Conor McGregor send out positivity and good wishes to the Rowdy one.

As for Rousey, she does genuinely seem to enjoy herself whenever talking about or in the WWE. Passion, discipline, and dedication are what brought Rousey UFC success, and whether or not she successfully transitions to a similarly phenomenal WWE career, remains to be seen.
