WWE News: Raw Superstar set to appear  for UK based independent wrestling promotion in 2018

Crews will be returning to the UK in February

Crews will be returning to the UK in February

What's the story?

Powerbomb TV leaked the news earlier today that WWE superstar Apollo Crews was set to appear at Preston City Wrestling in 2018, despite the fact that he is still contracted to the company and a 90-day release clause wouldn't allow him to perform by February 10th.

In case you didn't know...

Apollo Crews is currently part of the Raw roster where he is a member of Titus Brand Worldwide and even though the company isn't doing a lot with Apollo right now, he should be one of the stars making up the numbers in the Royal Rumble in January.

Crews won't be the first person to appear at an Independent promotion in the UK whilst contracted to WWE since the company has allowed all UK based talent to appear on shows in their native country since the Tournament took place in Blackpool back in January. Pete Dunne has even been able to defend the WWE UK Championship at Progress events in recent months.

Crews performed for PCW a number of times as Uhaa Nation before he was signed to WWE so it will be like he's going back to one of the places he once called home, for one of their biggest events.

The heart of the matter

Powerbomb TV officially revealed that Apollo Crews would be in attendance for PCW's Road to Glory event on February 10th, 2017 on their Twitter account earlier today.

PCW themselves revealed this on a live stream, but it was Powerbomb TV who officially confirmed it. Zack Sabre Jr has also already been confirmed for the event and the Preston based company has been teasing a big announcement regarding the show for the past few weeks, but no one expected one of this magnitude.

What's next?

Apollo Crews appeared on last weeks episode of Monday Night Raw and it is thought that he will continue to appear on Raw ahead of The Rumble.

There are no hints coming out of WWE that would mean that Apollo is set to be released or that he has made this commitment without permission since a number of other WWE stars seem to be attending Independent events next year as well, so it is thought that this is a sanctioned appearance for the former NXT star.

Authors take

This is brilliant, PCW is one of the biggest Independent Wrestling Promotions in the UK and if WWE is trying to make a deal with the Preston based company to help put more roots down in the UK then that can only benefit both parties.

PCW have put on some of the biggest shows to happen on UK soil with many former WWE and TNA stars but this is the first time that a current WWE star has been booked and it will ensure there will be a huge crowd in Preston in February.
