WWE News: Damien Sandow confirmed for another independent wrestling event

Damien Sandow with WWE Money in the Bank briefcase

The internet broke last week when the WWE Universe was notified about the release of fan favorite Damien Sandow. This release was widely criticized, though some fans felt it will provide better opportunities for Sandow and it indeed did happened. Damien Sandow has been booked in four indy events after his release which includes a match for H&L Heavyweight Championship.

As per recent report of allwrestlingnews.com, Sandow will appear in August 7 show for Tier 1 Wrestling from Brooklyn, New York.

Sandow has had two stints with the company. His first debut match dates back to 2003 and soon he was relegated to the lower card. His second prominent run was in 2006 as Idol Stevens. He teamed up KC James and feuded over the WWE Tag team Championship. That run wasn’t successful and he was eventually released.

He made his WWE re-debut in 2012 as the ‘Intellectual Saviour of the Unwashed Masses’ and was successful in winning the Money in the Bank contract a year later. After brief feuds that led to popularity loss, he started his impersonation gimmick. Soon, his name was changed to Damien Mizdow and played the role of Miz’s stunt double. The two were able to win the WWE Tag Team Championship at Survivor Series 2014.

After losing the championship gold, he eventually fell back to the lower card despite being ‘over’ with the WWE Universe. He was released from his WWE contract on May 7, 2016.
