What’s the story?

Per Sports Illustrated, pro-wrestling ‘super-fan’ Daniel Cormier weighed in with his prediction of Wrestlemania 34’s main event.

According to Cormier, Roman Reigns will emerge victorious in the headliner, but not quite in the manner, most experts predict.

In case you didn’t know…

The reigning UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier is widely regarded as one of the most skilled MMA fighters of all time. DC is a huge professional wrestling fan and has attended WWE events in the past; praising the promotion for its grandiosity and entertaining product.

Meanwhile, the vast majority of pro-wrestling experts have laid out their predictions for the Wrestlemania 34 headliner; asserting that Roman Reigns will defeat Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal title and close out the show.

The heart of the matter

Daniel Cormier emphasized that Roman Reigns is the number-1 star in the WWE today, and he loves the Big Dog’s work.

Additionally, Cormier addressed the aforementioned matchup which is rumoured to be serving as the main event of Wrestlemania 34; stating that although he does believe Roman Reigns will win the WWE Universal Championship in the ‘Mania headliner, it could be between him and a different opponent. DC explained—

“A lot of people boo him (Roman) because they think he’s pushed too hard, but WWE is smart. Now they’ve spun it–they’ve stuck Roman back with The Shield, and now people cheer him again.”

“They’ll find a way to make him the good guy, and I believe that he will get the championship back in New Orleans, but not from Brock Lesnar. I think Braun Strowman will be carrying the belt by then.”

What’s next?

Daniel Cormier defends his UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 220 next month.

Meanwhile, Roman Reigns is the current Intercontinental Champion, while Brock Lesnar holds the WWE Universal Championship; and Braun Strowman is yet to get his hands on either title. The Royal Rumble (January 28, 2018) shall set the WWE forth on the Road To Wrestlemania during which several Wrestlemania matchups will start coming to fruition.

Author’s take

It’s tough to disagree with Daniel Cormier here, in the sense that Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman truly are two the company’s most popular Superstars today, and with the Reigns being the face of the promotion, it really doesn’t matter whom he headlines against.
