What’s the story?

Darren Young has sent out his first couple of Tweets following his WWE release in October of last year.

While his first post—breaking his Twitter silence after his WWE departure—saw him address Martin Luther King, his second Tweet had him posing with a Bellator MMA star.

In case you didn’t know…

Darren Young performed for the WWE from 2005 until his departure from the promotion in late-2017.

Young rose to prominence as part of the Nexus, and later alongside Titus O’Neill as part of The Prime Time Players. Toward the end of his WWE stint, Young was booked in the storyline with Bob Backlund as his coach, however, his run was cut short owing to an arm injury.

The heart of the matter

On January 16th, Martin Luther King Day, Darren Young posted an inspirational message; asserting that MLK was a great American who understood how at the end of the day, we’re all on the same team because none of us are as strong as all of us collectively.

Furthermore, Young also posted a photograph of himself with Bellator Women’s Flyweight Champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane.

In fact, Young alluded that he’s likely set to attend Bellator’s much-awaited event, Bellator 192, this weekend.

What’s next?

Darren Young is set to continue his professional wrestling career on the independent pro-wrestling circuit. Fans can expect Young to appear with Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, in attendance at Bellator 192 that takes place on January 20th, and features MMA legend Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson taking on Chael Sonnen in the main event.

Meanwhile, Bellator 192 also features several other star-studded matchups, including a Welterweight Championship Match between defending champion Douglas Lima and former UFC title challenger Rory Macdonald.

Author’s take

Firstly, it’s great to see Darren Young back, up and about, in the Twitterverse.

Additionally, for those unaware, Macfarlane is one of the best Bellator fighters today and considering that perhaps a badass team comprising her and Young wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. After all several top MMA stars are indeed looking to transition to the world of professional wrestling.
