What’s the story?

As reported by 411Mania, WWE superstar Darren Young has revealed that he always knew he was gay. Young, who is currently sidelined with an injury, spoke about the issue during an appearance on former D-Generation X member X-Pac’s podcast.

In case you didn’t know.....

The 33-year-old Young officially came out to the public during an interview back in August 2013. Following the news, many fans around the world in addition to people within the business tweeted their congratulations to Young who had supposedly hidden the news for quite some time.

The heart of the matter

During his appearance on X-Pac’s podcast, Darren spoke about when he first knew he was gay.

“I always knew I just supressed my feelings. Just fear of judgment you know fear of losing friends so… For thirty years I’m thirty-three now for thirty years I just lived my life not being myself so just imagine you know.

Think of your most down moment you’re in life and times it by ten that’s how I felt. Just imagine not being able to be like other normal couples. That’s what I wanted to be ultimately as I grew up. I wanted to be like normal couples.

I want to be able to hold hands in public and be affectionate when the time is right in a classy way. But that was my main goal that was my main goal and I accomplished it by coming out to TMZ .”

What’s next?

Young is still recovering from an injury that has kept him sidelined for a while now, however, it’s not yet known if he’ll be returning to his “Make Darren Young Great Again” gimmick that we’d been seeing prior to his time on the shelf.

With Titus O’Neil occupied in a storyline with Apollo Crews, a reforming of the Primetime Players seems like distant possibility for now.

Author’s take

It’s great to hear Young speak so openly about this issue, and hopefully, he can continue to inspire members of the WWE Universe when it comes to being honest about their sexuality. In terms of his in-ring character, we’re hoping to see him be featured as a midcard act upon his return to action.
