What's the story?
David Otunga and partner Jennifer Hudson have been together for quite some time at this point. But as with so many relationships before them, they have seemed to hit a wall and are calling it quits. However, this break up doesn't seem to be going very smoothly at all as PEOPLE.com reports the couple has separated and Hudson has filed a protective order in the process.
In case you didn't know...
David Otunga and Acadamy Award-winning actress Hudson were engaged in 2007 and remained so until recently. Although they never tied the knot, the couple did welcome their son, David Daniel Otunga Jr, into the world in 2009.
David Otunga's in-ring career seemed to end in 2015, but it didn't translate into a WWE release at all. He was often used in a public relations setting where he and his famous fiance would attend events representing WWE. Otunga also took on a role as part of the broadcast team on television.
In April this year, Otunga announced he would be taking six weeks off from his duties at Raw's broadcast table and has yet to return to a full-time role. He appears as part of the kickoff show panel for pay-per-views at this point as Booker T, his temporary replacement, seemed to take over his Raw announcer gig on a role full-time basis.
The heart of the matter
A representative for Jennifer Hudson told PEOPLE.com the Dream Girls star was actually trying to end her relationship with David Otunga for months.
“Today, Jennifer requested and received a protective order against her ex-fiancé. Jennifer’s actions are solely taken in the best interest of their son.”
As of this writing, there has yet to be a formal response from David Otunga or his reps regarding this issue.
What's next?
Hopefully, David Otunga and Jennifer Hudson can end things peacefully if there is no way they can work it out. After all, the couple has a child together and David Otunga Jr needs to be considered in this situation as well.

This news kind of came out of left field because David Otunga has been with Jennifer Hudson since before he came into the WWE Universe. But it just goes to show you never truly know how happy someone is because some people could just be really good at keeping up appearances.
