WWE News: Dean Ambrose would consider MMA fight for $500,000

Dean Ambrose wouldn’t mind getting into the shooting business

What’s the story?

As reported by The Sun, WWE superstar Dean Ambrose has revealed that he would consider competing in a mixed martial arts fight – for $500,000. The Lunatic Fringe spoke about the issue in a recent interview with the British newspaper during the company’s European Tour.

In case you didn’t know...

Ambrose has been floundering since moving to Monday Night Raw in the Superstar Shake-Up, with his feud against The Miz not gaining all that much traction. It’s quite the fall from grace for a man who was leading SmackDown Live as the WWE Champion last summer, with many fans believing that Dean needs a heel turn to freshen up his character.

The heart of the matter

When asked about the possibility of an MMA fight, Ambrose had the following to say.

“I’ll fight anyone for enough money. Give me half-a-million dollars. Put them in the ring, I’ll do it right now, I’ll do it tonight.”

Ambrose would be following in the footsteps of former WWE stars Brock Lesnar and CM Punk, with both men going on to fight in the UFC following their tenures in professional wrestling.

What’s next?

It’s unlikely that this idea will be taken all too seriously, especially when you consider how many guys are ahead of Ambrose in the WWE hierarchy of sorts right now. Ambrose as a mixed martial artist would be interesting to see, but there’s still a lot left for the guy to do in this business despite his poor form over the last few months.

Author’s take

Aside from the fact that this story came from “Don’t Buy” The Sun, pro wrestlers moving over to MMA is a concept that has been entertained a lot more than ever before in the past few years. While Ambrose wouldn’t be our first candidate, some crossover work between the two companies could do wonders for both products.
