WWE News: Diamond Dallas Page reveals his Mount Rushmore of Wrestling
What’s the story?
Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Diamond Dallas Page was recently a guest on Ring Rust Radio and during his podcast interview, DDP revealed the name of four superstars from the wrestling business who would be a part of his Mount Rushmore.
In case you didn’t know…
Diamond Dallas Page (commonly known as DDP) is a former three-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, who is mostly known for his work with WCW. DDP is also a former WWF European Champion and has also held the WWF Tag Team Titles during his time with Vince McMahon’s promotion. The 61-year-old was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame earlier this year.
The heart of the matter
In his interview with Ring Rust Radio; DDP stated that he would like to include Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Jake Roberts and Vince McMahon in his Mount Rushmore of wrestling. Page said that during the early days of his career he and Dusty Rhodes used to sit around and talk about Vince McMahon, whom they considered as the biggest heel/babyface in the wrestling business.
The former WCW World Champion also labeled Vince McMahon as the “worker’s worker”. Page also had some high praises for former WCW President Eric Bischoff, who according to DDP brought the best out Vince McMahon.
“I think Bischoff should go in the Hall of Fame. I would love to induct him but it would probably be Jason Hervey or someone else. I have so many good stories about him”- DDP stated.
DDP is currently focusing on his yoga fitness program called the DDP Yoga, which has apparently helped a lot of people from all around the world to get in better shape including some of the top wrestling stars as well.
However, when it comes to in-ring action, Page is currently semi-retired from in-ring competition and his last WWE appearance was in 2015 when he entered the 30-man Royal Rumble that year. And with the 2018 Royal Rumble just around the corner, we could certainly expect to see Diamond Dallas Page entered the Royal Rumble match once again.
I think DDP’s Mt. Rushmore of Wrestling is absolutely tremendous and the four names that he has chosen have all had tremendous impact on the wrestling business.
