What’s the story?

In an interview with WWE's Byron Saxton, Ember Moon opened up on a myriad topics, including how she felt after her NXT title win.

Additionally, Moon asserted that she appreciates the respect Asuka showed towards her after their feud concluded and the latter presented her with the NXT Women’s title. Besides, Moon also spoke about what legacy she intends to leave in the business.

In case you didn’t know…

Ember Moon won the NXT Women’s Championship on November 18th and was awarded the title belt by Asuka, who made a surprise appearance at the event.

Moon and Asuka had previously engaged in a long-running feud over the title, and with the latter heading up to the main roster, their NXT feud came to a close.

The heart of the matter

Ember Moon let fans in on how she really felt after winning the NXT Women’s Championship:

"As soon as I won the title, I remember having to do an interview right away (and) by the time I got to locker room, it was completely empty. I put the title down, I put my armor down and I just stared at the both of them.”

“I just said to myself, 'I finally did it.' I finally solidified every decision that I made in my career and justified them. I just took a moment to step out of the craziness and live in that moment of happiness."

Furthermore, Moon elucidated that Asuka and her paths often intertwine, and they’d travel together, encouraging each other to perform better; and it was great to have Asuka present her the NXT Women’s title and celebrate their mutual love for wrestling in the middle of the ring.

In reference to the legacy she wants to leave behind in pro-wrestling, Moon explained that although she couldn’t break Asuka’s undefeated streak, she’s looking to best the latter’s record as the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion.

What’s next?

Ember Moon presently performs on the WWE’s NXT brand. Moon recently defended her strap against Lacey Evans at NXT’s (December 7th) house show in Daytona Beach, Florida -- a performance that’s said to be near-perfect and utterly dominant by fans who attended the show.

Author’s take

Ember Moon is a once-in-a-generation talent, and a main roster call-up may very well be on the cards for this talented young woman in the near future.

It’s great to see Moon giving props to Asuka, and perhaps a continuation of their rivalry on the main roster may happen should the WWE decide to promote ‘The War Goddess’ to RAW.
