What’s the story?

Following this week’s episode of WWE Raw, Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore needed four stitches above his eye due to a minor injury that he suffered during his match against Cedric Alexander on Raw this week.

In case you didn’t know…

Enzo Amore has had a pretty bad start to 2018, “The Certified G” started off the year in a hospital bed due to him suffering from flu which also resulted in him being pulled off from the upcoming WWE Mixed Match Challenge. Amore was originally scheduled to team up with Nia Jax for the tournament, was later replaced by Apollo Crews.

Big Cass’ former tag team partner was also supposed to defend his WWE Cruiserweight Championship last week on Raw against Cedric Alexander but that match was called off due to Enzo’s agonizing flu.

The heart of the matter

Upon his return to the WWE on this week’s episode of Raw, the leader of the Zo-Train finally went toe-to-toe against Cedric Alexander with the Cruiserweight Championship on the line. Unfortunately, things turned pretty awful for Enzo during the match when “The Certified G” first caught a kick to the eye, which busted him wide open.

And later on in the contest, Amore’s leg and ankle were caught by a dive from Cedric Alexander as Enzo then opted not to get back into the ring and as a result of which Cedric won the match via count-out but failed to capture the Cruiserweight Title.

After Raw went off-air, Enzo Amore was treated by the WWE medical team who had to fix Enzo’s busted eye with four stitches. Here is a video of the fallout:

What’s next?

Despite a terrible start to 2018, Enzo Amore will now look to get the Zo-Train back on track and continue with his fine heelish work on the 205 Live division and on Monday Night Raw as well. On the other hand, it is safe to assume that Enzo’s next potential challenger will be non-other than the newest arrival on 205 Live, Hideo Itami.

Author’s take

Enzo Amore’s injury on Raw was really terrible to watch but on the other hand, seeing him finish the match with such a nasty injury was also a thing of beauty, to say the least.
