Enzo issues a statement regarding the ongoing investigation

What's the story?

Enzo Amore was released by WWE earlier today after being accused of sexual assault as part of an incident that took place back in October 2017. It seems that Enzo has been under investigation in relation to this incident for a number of months and it has only recently been made public by the victim in question. Given the recent media attention surrounding the case, Enzo has been forced to make a statement in response to these claims.

In case you didn't know...

This story was first reported yesterday ahead of Raw 25 when the alleged victim first shared her story on Social Media. There were then reports that Enzo had been suspended by the company, which was later confirmed ahead of last night's 25th Anniversary celebrations.

Enzo was at the Barclays Center in New York yesterday but was sent home by WWE and not made part of the show following his suspension.

A few hours ago WWE broke the news on their official site that Enzo had been released from the company merely hours after his suspension was made public. No reason was given for the release, but it seems that amidst these allegations, Enzo himself has been forced to come forward and make a statement.

The heart of matter

Just hours after he was released from WWE, Enzo Amore posted the following statement on his Twitter page, which read:

"Over the last two days, Philomena Sheahan has made multiple public accusations against Eric Arndt (also known as Enzo Amore with the WWE), including allegations of sexual misconduct concerning an October 2017 incident in Phoenix. Mr. Arndt fully and unequivocally denies those accusations. He is cooperating with the authorities in this matter and looks forward to having it resolved in a timely manner. Neither Mr. Arndt nor his counsel will be making any further public comments on this matter."

The former Cruiserweight Champion obviously denies the claims in this statement as well as revealing that he is cooperating with the police and looks forward to having this situation resolved in a timely manner.

What's next?

Enzo was stripped of the Cruiserweight Championship and it was recently revealed on WWE's Twitter account that Daniel Bryan would open this week's episode of 205 Live and issue a statement in regards to the future of the title and the match that will take place at The Royal Rumble on Sunday night instead.

Author's take

This story has taken over headlines over the past two days and right now it is part of an on-going police investigation which means that it is hard at this current moment to make any kind of judgment. Enzo has his right to protest his innocence and tell his side of the story since the alleged victim recently released all of the details as part of an interview with TMZ.
