WWE News: Ex-NXT star Marcus Louis claims that he was to lead SAniTy

SAniTy were formed in 2016 and made their debut on NXT

What’s the story?

Former NXT star Marcus Louis appeared on the Pancakes and Powerslams podcast and revealed that he was to be the leader of SAniTy. Moreover, he added that these plans changed once Sami Callihan quit NXT.

The background

SAniTy is a popular stable on NXT which originally consisted of Eric Young, Nikki Cross, Alexander Wolfe and Swayer Fulton. The faction made its debut in 2016 as part of The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. In the first round, Wolfe and Fulton defeated Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode.

Thereafter, they defeated TJ Perkins and Kota Ibushi in the second round. However, they came up short against TM 61 in the semis. On the November 30 edition of NXT, Fulton left the group. After a while, Killian Dain joined the faction and added a new dimension to his career.

The heart of the matter

On the Pancakes and Powerslams podcast, Louis said that SAniTy was originally supposed to consist of Fulton, himself and Sami Callihan. Moreover, he said that Triple H wanted the trio to be modelled on Mad Max and come across a punk style people.

"Initially, SAniTy was supposed to be Sami Callahan, myself, and Sawyer Fulton. [We] were the three people who were supposed to be SAniTy at first," said Louis.

However, according to Louis, these plans changed once Callihan quit NXT and the higher ups decided to bring in ‘somebody new’ to lead the faction

What’s next?

SAniTy has made quite an impact on NXT and it’s only a matter of time before the group gets called up to the main roster.

Author’s Take

There can be no denying that Louis would have benefitted tremendously had things gone according to the original plan. However, that said and done, let’s not forget that Young is a more experienced and established name in the wrestling world. As such, he adds a lot of credibility to the group.
