What's the story?

The 31st annual Royal Rumble match takes place in less than four weeks' time, and with the likes of Elias, Shinsuke Nakamura and even John Cena already announced for the match, it was Finn Balor's turn to reveal that he would also be part of the 30 man Rumble.

In case you didn't know...

Finn Balor hasn't had the best run in WWE since he returned to the company the night after WrestleMania 33. Recent reports suggested that Balor was set to be Seth Rollins' tag team partner in place of Dean Ambrose whilst he recovers from injury.

Luckily, Jason Jordan was the man chosen to fill the slot, which means that hopefully, WWE has much bigger plans for the inaugural Universal Champion.

Balor never lost that Championship, he was forced to relinquish it the night after he won it back in the Summer of 2016 because of an injury. If he wins the Royal Rumble match, then he will finally be given the one-on-one shot he deserves for that title, one that he was originally planned to have on January 28th, but it seems that these plans have since changed.

The heart of the matter

Finn Balor announced this week on Raw that he would be part of the 30 man over-the-top-rope Royal Rumble match later this month, knowing that a win there would ensure that he would be part of the WrestleMania main event for the first time.

What's next?

A few minutes after he announced his place in The Royal Rumble he revealed that he had managed to find two partners for his match against Elias and The Miztourage later in the night. It seems that the WWE Universe was in for a treat as The Bullet Club officially reunited for the first time in WWE with Finn Balor at the helm.

Finn may have two men behind him tonight, but in four weeks time it will be every man for himself and if Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are part of the match, then they won't think twice about throwing him over the top rope.

Authors take

Finn Balor has had a strange few months in WWE, when he returned to Raw back in April he was seen as a main star and someone who should have been pushed towards the title he never lost, but it seems that he has since fallen down the ranks as the year has progressed.

Finn would definitely be seen as a dark horse in the match and even if he doesn't win it is hoped that he will pick up a feud that is worthy of his participation in the match so that he has something to occupy his time leading into WrestleMania.
