WWE News: Finn Balor responds to Dave Meltzer's claim that he's not 'over'

Finn Balor's response was just 'too sweet'.
Finn Balor's response was just 'too sweet'.

What's the story?

WWE Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar vanquished 'The Phenomenal One' at Survivor Series, last weekend. It is clear that the only top card performer from the RAW roster that he's not faced thus far is former Universal Champion, Finn Balor.

Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer said that the reason that Finn Balor and Brock Lesnar would not be competing at the Royal Rumble is that The Demon King is not 'over'. Balor replied with the following Tweet:

This is a pretty witty and sarcastic response to Dave Meltzer's remarks.

In case you didn't know...

By all rights, Finn Balor should be the next person to square off against Brock Lesnar. Balor was the first ever Universal Champion, bagging the prize only twenty-seven days after stepping on to the main roster.

He has not received his rematch since his return. Royal Rumble would have been the ideal stage for a clash of this immense magnitude. However, Meltzer believes that Balor's not 'over' enough for McMahon to approve this particular contest.

The heart of the matter

Balor's response to Meltzer just reads- '#BalorClub. fOreVER.' The word 'over' has been highlighted in this particular message, and the leader of the Balor Club has been pictured taking down WWE's own golden boy- Roman Reigns.

This snide remark indicates the fact that Balor believes that he remains a fan favourite, to this very day. Some may believe that he does not have the physique to take on Brock Lesnar, but Lesnar proved that he works well with smaller men like AJ Styles, at Survivor Series 2017. Meltzer's own response to this particular Tweet should be very interesting.

What's next?

Balor wrestled Samoa Joe on TV this week and was booked in a losing effort. It is unclear what the next plan of action is for the Demon King. Let's hope that he gets back to the top of the card someday soon.

Author's take

I'm definitely not intrigued at the thought of Lesnar facing Balor and squashing him. If the two men can have a competitive match, then I may be game to see it unfold. Balor was over when he returned, but the current booking has watered his gimmick down.
