What's the story?

Despite Finn Balor currently suffering from some sort of undisclosed illness, the former Universal Champion is seemingly still scheduled to face Drew McIntyre at the upcoming TLC pay-per-view.

While recently speaking on Not Sam Wrestling Podcast, Balor explained why has all the respect in the world for Drew McIntyre.

In case you didn't know...

Former WWE Universal Champion, Finn Balor has recently ignited a feud against former NXT Champion, Drew McIntyre on Monday Night Raw. Both McIntyre and Balor have been going back-and-forth with each other on the red brand, with the Scotsman sneak attacking the Irishman recently on Raw as well.

Balor, meanwhile, was also sent home early from WWE's recently concluded South American Tour, as the former NXT Champion headed home prior to the show in Santiago, Chile.

The heart of the matter

Finn Balor is all set to face Drew McIntyre in singles competition at TLC and despite the two men being former NXT Champions and being two of the best in-ring competitors in the WWE today, the two are rather determined to show the world what they're capable of when they go head-to-head against each other without any sort of titles or stipulations on the line. "The idea is never to steal the show, it is to go out there and have a good time. I am still trying to process the fact that I have a match against Drew McIntyre at TLC because I just found out through social media. It's crazy because we kind of come from the same general area on planet earth and we have had similar career paths, but we have never had a singles match on TV."

In his first tenure in the WWE, McIntyre, unfortunately, didn't live up to his expectations and was eventually fired, as he made his way back to the Indie Circuit. However, Balor is someone who has drawn a lot of inspiration from Drew McIntyre only for his stunning comeback in the WWE.

"Credit to Drew McIntyre to go through what he went through at an early age in WWE and then regroup, reset his goals, refocus and do it the way he has done it and to come back in so composed and a completely new Drew McIntyre, so credit to him for that. "I have ultimate respect for how he has handled his career. I think he has definitely proved a lot of people wrong in doing that. Jinder Mahal is another example. They are great guides for when this type of thing that does happen for guys in WWE that do get let go, and the door isn't always closed and there is a light at the end of the tunnel and if guys can get refocused, dig in and work hard there is always a way back for those guys. I have ultimate respect for them."

What's next?

Finn Balor and Drew Mcintyre will go head-to-head against each other on the 16th at TLC.
