WWE News: Finn Balor says match with Brock Lesnar is the “most interesting” to fans

The Demon King wants to face The Beast Incarnate

What's the story?

Finn Balor spoke with Metro UK magazine last week and said that he would want to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship because it’s the “most interesting match from a fan's perspective”.

In case you didn’t know...

Balor became the first Universal Champion at SummerSlam 2016 when he defeated Seth Rollins and fought through a shoulder injury. The injury he sustained in the match cost him his championship reign as he was forced to relinquish the belt the next night on Monday Night Raw.

The Universal Championship was then held by Kevin Owens and Goldberg, until Lesnar defeated Goldberg at WrestleMania 33 and is currently the longest reigning Universal Champion in history.

The heart of the matter

Balor said that he was a big fan of “David vs. Goliath” style matches and that the dynamic between himself and Lesnar would make for a great match.

“Right now, there’s a lot of interesting matches that could happen in WWE right now, but for me personally I think that Finn Balor vs Brock Lesnar is the most interesting match from a fans perspective that can happen right now.”

Balor expressed interest in fighting The Undertaker and Triple H as well, but said that he has no problem facing Lesnar despite their notable size differences.

“I don’t shy away from a fight for one second and I would absolutely love to be in there with Brock Lesnar.”

What’s next?

Balor is scheduled to face Bray Wyatt this Sunday at the TLC pay-per-view.

Lesnar is likely to accept Jinder Mahal’s challenge for Survivor Series, which would mean the next chance for Lesnar and Bálor to face off would be at Royal Rumble in 2018.

Author’s Take

Many fans have argued that the size difference may detract from any potential match between the two, but Lesnar’s match with CM Punk in 2013 proved that size differences may not affect match quality.
