WWE News: Finn Balor teases future match with AJ Styles

What's the story?

Wrestlingnews.co reports that Finn Balor recently spoke with NotSam Wrestling Podcast about many things, including a move to Smackdown and his match with AJ Styles at last year's TLC PPV.

He mentioned that he wanted another shot at the second leader of the Bullet Club.

In case you missed it...

Finn Balor was slated to face Bray Wyatt at the Raw-exclusive TLC PPV last year, but a viral outbreak struck the Raw roster, affecting members like Jojo, Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas. Since it happened so close to the pre-planned TLC PPV, WWE was forced to find a new opponent for the Demon at the PPV.

Unsurprisingly, AJ Styles stepped up to the plate and gave the fans what they all wanted to see: Styles vs. Balor. It was a match of the first two leaders of the Bullet Club, but was a great match regardless of previous alignments.

The two tore the house down and even 'Too Sweeted' each other at the end of the match after Balor prevailed. Styles would go on to win the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal only weeks later.

The heart of the matter

Balor returned from the injury that cost him his Universal Title on the Raw after Wrestlemania 33.He reflected on the match on the podcast:

“From what I can remember, it was a lot of fun. I don’t watch my matches back, so like I can’t say if I’m happy or not. But the fact that you’re still talking about it a year later and they’ve just put it on the Youtube channel and stuff like that, you know, some people liked it for sure.”

Since their was such a buzz around the match a year after it happened, Balor offered more insight onto another showdown in the future:

“I’m looking forward to doing it again. Because I felt like that kind of happened like out of nowhere. I was still finding my feet in WWE, kinda getting back off the injury and I feel like, you know, in the year that I’ve been back since that match, you know, I feel like I’ve really found my feet in the ring. Kinda working on a different frequency right now. I think like that match with me and AJ, sometime in the future, is gonna blow that match before out of the water.”

Balor has yet to win another title, while Styles went on to reign as WWE Champion for over a year.

What's next?

A lot of things can happen to pit the two ultra-talented wrestlers against each other once again.

Finn moving to Smackdown would be an easy way to jump start another match with Styles

One could switch brands (Balor moving to Smackdown makes the most sense) in order to fight again. They could just have another match at a Wrestlemania or another PPV justifying it by the success of the previous match. Or they could form a cross-brand faction should another popular leader of the Bullet Club join WWE at some point.

However and whenever it happens, there would be few fans who care about the hows/whys of another dream match between Balor and Styles.
