WWE News: First official trailer of latest 'Fast and Furious' film has been released

The Rock will be reprising his role as Agent Luke Hobbs in the film

Fresh from the success of his recent animated venture ‘Moana’, The Rock is all set to get another blockbuster under his belt when the eighth film in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise releases in April next year.

The first trailer for the film, which has been titled ‘The Fate of the Furious’, was released recently and has been met with overwhelming response from the fans. The video is over three minutes long and provides a brief insight into the film’s plot.

The franchise’s main protagonist Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, betrays DSS agent Luke Hobbs, The Rock’s character, and the rest of his teammates under the influence of a dangerous criminal named Cipher, played by Charlize Theron.

After failing to understand why he turned on them, Hobbs, Dom’s wife Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and the rest of the team set out to find answers and capture Dom in the process. Frank Petty (Kurt Russell) and former adversary Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) assist them in their quest.

However, the job is far more difficult for them, as the man who created the team is now the one standing in their way. Whether they will be able to get Dom back on their side or not, is something we will only be able to figure out when The Fate of the Furious hits the theatres on 14 April 2017.

As has been the case, ever since the ‘Agent Luke Hobbs’ character appeared for the first time in ‘Fast Five’, The Rock has been one of the most important members of the franchise’s cast. From what one could figure out in the trailer, he has an even bigger role to play this time around, as he will be leading Dominic Toretto’s team against the man himself.

Here is the much-awaited trailer of the eighth instalment in the 'Fast and Furious' franchise:
