WWE News: Former ECW star appears on SmackDown Live

It
It was good to see a familiar face on SmackDown Live this week

What's the story?

If you were watching SmackDown Live this week and thought you recognised the name of one of The Bludgeon Brothers' victims then you might have a good reason.

Colin Delaney was one of the enhancement talents for Haper and Rowan this week and he also had a stint with WWE ECW during the extreme brand's existence.

In case you didn't know...

WWE often calls on local guys when they need someone to come in and be an enhancement talent.

The Bludgeon Brothers have called for enhancement talent for the past couple weeks and it looks like one of the guys WWE gave the job to this week to take a beating from Harper and Rowan already had a history with the company.

The heart of the matter

Colin Delaney was a fresh-faced 20-year-old when he appeared on WWE ECW. He took a lot of losses, but when you're in the pro wrestling business sometimes being able to lose and make your opponent look great can result in job security.

It turns out nearly a decade after his release from WWE, Colin Delaney got a call from WWE once again. Only his job assignment wasn't the easiest one because he was given the task of losing to Harper and Rowan.

The Bludgeon Brothers are pretty brutal, hence their name so it wasn't an easy time for Delaney. But it was still good to see that he's still able to perform in the ring while taking a beating and making someone look good in the process.

What's next?

Who knows where the WWE Universe might see Colin Delaney pop up next? He was never the most popular player in WWE's incarnation of ECW, but he's still someone worth revisiting for sure.

As for The Bludgeon Brothers, it looks like they're going to continue on their path of destruction and it won't matter who they're picking apart in the process.

Author's take

Even though he was released from WWE in 2008, Colin Delaney hasn't slowed down at all. He's still taking plenty of indie bookings and has kept himself in good shape. He can obviously still go as evidenced by the fact that he looked so good while being torn apart by Harper and Rowan on SmackDown Live this week.

It was good to see him again, and although it was painful, we're willing to bet it was great for him to be back in a WWE ring once more.
