This is a big step for the promising superstar!
Quite a big step for the promising superstar!

What's the story?

Amanpreet Singh, better known as Mahabali Shera, has reported at the WWE Performance Center. He's a popular Indian wrestler, best known for his work with Impact Wrestling.

Singh was the central focus of Impact Wrestling's Indian tapings of 2017. We thank WWE.com for the update.

In case you didn't know...

Singh first rose to prominence through TNA's Indian venture- Ring Ka King. He even became the RKK World Heavyweight Champion at one point in time.

He was also a featured attraction when Impact Wrestling came down to India to film four episodes in the year 2017. Singh won the Sony SIX Invitational in Mumbai, with his father in attendance, watching all the action.

His profile was removed from the company's website on November 13th. Many Indian fans were left wondering what was next for Shera.

The heart of the matter

Amanpreet Singh was very pleased upon the signing, and had this to say:

I came to the U.S. with the dream that someday, I am going to make my country proud.I would consider myself fortunate if I am able to become a positive role model for the youngsters of my country and impact lives. I don’t think I can find a better platform than WWE to empower myself to empower others, especially those back at home.

This was the official signing announcement from WWE:

After signing a developmental contract with WWE, Amanpreet Singh, an independent wrestler and bodybuilder from Punjab, India, has reported for training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. A powerful figure that stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 240 pounds, Singh endured a difficult childhood by channeling his energies into sports. He’s a self-taught bodybuilder who won local competitions before turning his focus to wrestling in 2011.

What's next?

The next step for Shera is obviously NXT. With Jeet Rama, Kishan Raftar and Kavita Devi already with the promotion, it is clear that WWE sees India as a big market. We're certain the company has big plans for Shera, in the long run.

Author's take

Shera has always been incredibly nice and generous during all my interactions with him. He's always been a man with big dreams, and this accolade is well deserved indeed.

Best of luck to the talented young Indian superstar!
