What's the story?

Former Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff recently spoke to Christy Olson on "After 83 weeks with Christy Olson", sharing his opinion on intergender wrestling.

Bischoff stated that he wholeheartedly supports intergender wrestling, adding, "why the hell not?".

In case you didn't know...

This year's Men's Royal Rumble match saw Nia Jax attacking the #30 entrant R-Truth and taking his place in the match.

WWE's male Superstars proceeded to gang up on Nia, with Mysterio and Orton hitting her with their signature moves. Nia was immediately thrown off the top rope.

Soon after, Nia interrupted Dean Ambrose on Raw and attacked him. A string of referees prevented Ambrose from going back to the ring in retaliation.

Rumors began floating around that WWE was planning to introduce intergender wrestling on a regular basis. A feud between Nia Jax and Dean Ambrose was teased too, but it didn't go anywhere.

The heart of the matter

Although Bischoff admitted that intergender matches could be controversial in today's culture, he supported the idea of women wrestling men.

If you believe in equality, you believe men and women are equal, you believe all that stuff, and the woman wants to get in the ring and have a match with a man then why the hell not?! Why would you say that’s wrong? Why would anybody be offended about that? Why would there be a group of people who got woke in the morning and decided that a man having scripted violence against a woman is probably going to somehow end the world as we know it, or whatever they come up with.

What's next?

As of this moment, WWE's plans to go ahead with intergender wrestling don't seem to have a clear direction. The company put Nia into the Men's Royal Rumble match to see the crowd's reaction and it's up to WWE to move forward with it.
