What's the story?

Former WWE NXT superstar and Sanity member Sawyer Fulton was recently interviewed by Solo Wrestling, and during his interaction with Solo Wrestling, Fulton talked about his experience in NXT as part of Sanity and also revealed who inspired the idea of the faction.

In case you didn't know...

Sawyer Fulton first made his WWE debut in 2012 when he was signed by WWE and sent to NXT. Fulton was on a tag team with Angelo Dawkins during his first months in the developmental territory but in 2016, WWE decided to team up the 27-year-old with Alexander Wolfe. Wolfe and Fulton were both soon joined by Eric Young and Nikki Cross, as the four Superstars formed the stable called Sanity.

However, later in 2016, Fulton tore a pectoral muscle which ruled him out of action and on November 30, 2016, Eric Young decided to remove Fulton from the group and he was replaced by Killian Dane.

On 3rd November, 2017, Sawyer Fulton was released from his WWE contract.

The heart of the matter

During his interview with Solo Wrestling; Fulton revealed that the WWE creative came up with the Sanity idea in early 2016 and it was originally pitched to Solomon Crowe (Now Sami Callihan), Marcus Louis and Fulton himself. Fulton also stated that it was senior NXT producer Triple H's idea to base the faction on the movie Smokin Aces, however, things did not work out at first as Sami left the WWE and Louis was released.

Fulton additionally claimed that at a live event in Bartow, Wolfe and him teamed up in a tag match against The Hype Bros, which drew a lot of attention back to the Sanity idea and the faction came along very soon.

Fulton also praised his former partner Alexander Wolfe by saying that the German Superstar is insanely talented and gifted inside the ring.

What's next?

Fulton said during the interview that he still remains a fan of his Sanity gimmick and the current plan for him is to use it in the next phase of his career. The former Sanity member also claimed that it is his dream to wrestle in Japan.

Author's Take

Personally, I think that Sawyer Fulton should continue a similar sort of gimmick in the Indy scene and maybe he can even form a similar type of faction of his own in the indies, maybe with Sami Callihan also being in it.
