The Ascension, the former NXT Tag Team Champions, never got a proper foothold in WWE’s main roster. With their gimmick falling flat and their matches feeling bland, they experienced a bad run on the main roster as they failed to capture the interest of WWE fans.
Their bad luck notwithstanding with that, Konnor got recendly suspended because of his transgression with Wellness Policy along with Adam Rose. Though Adam Rose made some noise regarding it, Konnor took it quietly and went to ground. We still have no news on what WWE is planning to do with him after the 60 day suspension is over.
But, we do have news on what WWE is planning for ViKtor, the other half of Ascension. Ever since his partner was suspended, Viktor has been taken off-television and was not found in WWE programming. But off late, he has been working in Superstars. Dailywrestlingnews reports that Viktor is now being introduced as “The Demonic Viktor” in those shows and it looks like WWE has planned a revamp of their original gimmick to Viktor.
The Ascension was the longest reigning NXT Tag Team Champions. They ruled the NXT tag team division for a long time before they were called up to the main roster. If there is one team that is counting on the brand split, then The Ascension would be it. Let’s hope this gimmick revamp works for Viktor and the team gets some much needed push once Konnor comes back.
