What's the story?
At tonight's WWE Elimination Chamber, Finn Balor won his second title on the main roster, as leader of The Balor Club defeated Bobby Lashley to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Following Balor's win, he was greeted with a heartfelt message on social media by good friend and former Universal Champion, Kevin Owens.
In case you didn't know...
In 2018, Kevin Owens was involved in a heated rivalry with Bobby Lashley and after being injured on Raw by the latter, Owens would eventually be written off TV in order to make sure that he could receive surgery on his right knee.
Owens eventually went on to have both his knees worked on, however, a few months ago, it was announced on Raw that both Owens and his best friend Sami Zayn would be returning to WWE TV very soon.
As far as Owens is concerned, he has also been reportedly training with NXT star Adam Cole ahead of his return.
The heart of the matter
Since moving up to the main roster in 2016, Finn Balor has had a very tough time dealing with injuries, so much so that he had to vacate his newly won Universal Championship right after the day he initially captured it at SummerSlam, 2016.
Balor, however, made history tonight by winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the very first time when he defeated Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match.
Following Balor's win, the new IC Champion was congratulated by former IC Champion, Kevin Owens who sent out a heartfelt message in regards to his good buddy winning the prestigious Intercontinental Championship.
What's next?
Kevin Owens is likely to return to the WWE prior to or after WrestleMania 35, which is still two months away. If Owens does make his return to Raw before 'Mania 35, then I personally think a match with Finn Balor at WrestleMania for the Intercontinental Championship would be a great decision.
